Not the same company since they sold out a few years ago. Are they only using trees on their cloud or are they going to come out with new software to kill FTM? Ancestry wins either way.

I told the rep that they should never sold FTM. Why do we need upgrade to FTM 2019 If you haven’t use the feature to connect Family Tree Maker to through FTM 2017, then you have to upgrade it to Family Tree Maker 2019 as Mackiev has already stop the sync of FTM 2014 and the older version. Software MacKiev rep said to buy their version of 2014, but when I asked if they would refund my money if that did not solve the problem I received no response. The smaller data bases loaded and worked ok on the Window 10. A direct import is always best and there is still a way for FTM 2014.1 users to achieve optimal results.

We can run Windows 7 as a virtual OS in Linux so if I ever need to go back to running Family Tree Maker at any stage, I would just pop it into the VirtualBox corner of Ubuntu 14.04 - which is my main OS. Ancestry completely rewrote Family Tree Maker in 2008 and it was very different than its previous incarnation. My enquiry dates back a decade now and such a lot has now moved on. I recall that the first (proprietary) genealogy programme I used called Family Tree (an Xmas gift back in the late 90s) was a nightmare to use. But then the latter is true of most genealogy software I have used. Now it tries for over 2 hours and then FTM stops responding at about 80 to 90 % loaded. Interested to hear that this worked fine. Gramps is excellent, fully featured genealogy software aimed, I believe, at genealogy professionals. It takes about 10 minutes to load it into FTM 2014 the first time.

I just bout a windows 10 computer and both versions work on it for small data bases, But the large data base will not load into or access by these 2 versions of FTM. It is still possible to purchase the program on software retailer sites (mentioned in some blog posts), but ancestry support will be limited. Release History: Version 22.2.4 - February 2015.

Family Tree Maker genealogy software on the Mac dates back to the late 1990s, although due to low sales/demand, it was discontinued for over a decade, until 2010.
